Community Harvest Food Bank’s Healthy Families Initiative Gains Lincoln Financial Foundation Support
Community Harvest Food Bank was awarded a $90,000 grant from Lincoln Financial Foundation in support of the Healthy Families Initiative, which includes the Farm Wagon mobile pantry, Holiday Food, and the Community Cupboard pantry. These key programs serve more than 45,000 food-insecure individuals each year.
“Lincoln Financial Foundation has always played a key role in the fight against hunger,” said Carmen Griffith, CHFB President. “Whether it is through monetary donations or the countless hours their employees spend volunteering their time, Lincoln is a prime example of neighbors helping neighbors get a hand up and for that we are grateful.”
“Lincoln Financial Foundation’s fundamental goal is to empower people in our community to live greater lives,” said Deb Washler, Lincoln Foundation’s Fort Wayne program officer. “Hunger impairs our ability to build a stable family, hold a job, or learn at school, so supporting organizations such as Community Harvest Food Bank is essential in achieving this goal.”
The funding from this grant will allow Community Harvest to provide nearly 400,000 meals to hungry children, seniors, and families during the coming year.
